13 Apr Frontier names former AT&T exec as chief network officer
Frontier Communications hired Veronica Bloodworth for the new role of executive vice president and chief network officer. She’ll report to President and CEO Nick Jeffery and oversee all of Frontier’s network operations, including those related to the Company’s modernization plan, which basically involves expanding its fiber optic network.Bloodworth comes from AT&T where she spent 23 years. She most recently served as SVP of construction and engineering at AT&T, leading the planning, design, construction and capital maintenance of the wireline and wireless network infrastructure across a national footprint. Under her leadership, AT&T deployed fiber-connected service to over 14 million customers and created a single fiber plan across the consumer, mobility and business segments.
Prior to that role, Bloodworth was SVP of corporate strategy at AT&T Services, where she led the Velocity IP program, which laid the groundwork to transform the company to an all IP/Wireless/Cloud business.
Frontier also announced that Steve Gable, who has served as chief technology officer, will take the new title of chief digital and information officer.
“Strengthening our management team is a key step to our goal of transforming Frontier into a modern technology company, improving operating performance, growing our business, and enhancing our customers’ experience,” said Jeffery, in a statement.
Frontier offers a variety of services to residential and business customers over its fiber-optic and copper networks in 25 states.
During a recent investor meeting, Frontier said it will continue to de-emphasize its unprofitable video business and focus on broadband.

Nick Jeffery has only been CEO since March 1. He was most recently CEO of Vodafone U.K. Jeffery took over from former Frontier CEO Bernie Han, who is remaining on the company’s board of directors and helping to guide the CEO transition.

Frontier expects to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy very soon. The California PUC is scheduled to vote whether to give its approval on April 15.
