14 Oct Husky Terminal and Stevedoring Goes Live with eModal PreGate Appointment Solution to Reduce Turn Times and Improve Gate Efficiency
Appointments to be required for all grounded import loads as of October 14, 2019
MURRAY HILL, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Advent Intermodal Solutions, provider of the eModal suite of applications that simplify and accelerate the flow of cargo across the landside supply chain, announced today that Husky Terminal & Stevedoring, Inc., operator of a 110-acre marine terminal in Tacoma, Washington, has successfully deployed the eModal Community Portal (eCP) PreGate appointment module for import pickup appointments and advance reservation requests.
By implementing eModal’s PreGate module for import containers, Husky aims to reduce trucker turn times and improve the efficiency of gate operations in order to provide more reliable, high-quality service to their customers.
As of October 14, 2019, appointments will be mandatory during all gate hours for all grounded import loads delivered by rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes. Appointments will not yet be required for other transaction types. Peel pile imports are currently exempt.
In order to secure appointments, dispatchers will create an eModal account by registering at eModal.com. Appointments are available in one-hour time slots and currently allow a 60-minute grace period before and after the scheduled time slot, for a total window of three hours. During “Hoot Gates,” when the terminal has extended gate hours, grace periods will be 30 minutes before and after the time slot for a total window of two hours. Appointments can be made up to one week in advance and up to 60 minutes prior to the preferred time slot.
