Intelligent Fiber Network stages SD-WAN deployment with Nuage Networks

Intelligent Fiber Network (IFN) is teeing-up an SD-WAN offering by working with Nuage Networks. The SD-WAN service, which is slated to go live by the end of this year, gives IFN the ability to serve customers that are outside of its 5,000-mile fiber footprint.

In order to spearhead the SD-WAN service, IFN also announced that Kent Welch has been promoted to director of product development and sales operations.
IFN is in the process of diversifying its services to reach a larger customer base while also adding new applications and services for its existing customers. SD-WAN extends IFN’s Layer 2 transport to connect to remote locations in a more cost-effective manner. It will also allow IFN to overlay its intelligence on top of its fiber to provide more services without additional wiring.

Welch joined IFN last year as its sales engineer and manager of sales operations. In his new job, Welch will develop and oversee product design and features through collaboration with internal constituents including sales, marketing, network design, operations and finance. Welch will also oversee the product lifecycle, strategic positioning, go-to market strategies, and leading the product launches.

“We knew Kent would be the right person to spearhead SD-WAN for IFN because of his prior experience in both infrastructure management and services. IFN is in a unique position to mesh both our five nines backbone and the advanced network function SD-WAN provides into a solution that can meet our customer’s networking needs,” said Cory Childs, IFN vice president of sales and marketing. “Expanding and enhancing our service offerings to customers not only grows our business, but also grows our customers’ business as well. Launching our SD-WAN product enables us to help existing customers and expand to where we can meet new ones.”
Since 2002, Intelligent Fiber Network has offered fiber transport, internet connectivity, and carrier-grade colocation services to businesses in the Midwest. IFN has 21 members/owners.
