“In September, we introduced the Lumen technology platform for delivering the application and data services that are vital to our clients’ success. This new digital buying experience is a foundational part of that,” said Shaun Andrews, Lumen chief marketing officer, in a statement. “Through an online portal, businesses can easily price and order products on demand, with just a few clicks. This do-it-yourself experience is one that our clients have been requesting to help them be more responsive to their specific business needs. The quick deployment of services can help businesses do amazing things in this 4th Industrial Revolution.”
The services that are available on the new portal include Lumen Hyper WAN, Lumen Dynamic Connections IP VPN and Lumen DDoS Hyper.
Hyper WAN provides a network platform for connecting multiple office locations to internet and MPLS IP VPN-services in order to turn on services in minutes, according to Lumen.
For cloud connections, Lumen Dynamic Connections IP VPN joins a business’s WAN to cloud environments in real time, via secure private connections. It allows business headquarters, branches and data centers to shift their applications in minutes to when and where they are needed the most.
Lumen DDoS Hyper protects internet applications from the increasingly sophisticated attacks with advanced detection and mitigation capabilities. Lumen said the digital quote-to-order process included automated turn-up of on-demand DDoS protection for Lumen or third-party internet when it is needed most. Over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, DDoS attacks have ramped up with bad actors looking to exploit new vulnerabilities as more employees work from home.
Lumen developed the online portal internally. A Lumen spokesperson said the company’s network-as-a-service (NaaS) was MEF compliant. Lumen’s NaaS is used for both Hyper WAN and Dynamic Connections IP VPN.
