Nuage Networks scores another SD-WAN customer win with Telia Norway

Nuage Networks has added Telia Norway to its list of SD-WAN customer wins. With Nuage Networks’ SD-WAN 2.0, Telia can set up automated services with specific policies related to availability, reliability or security by using a single, unified interface. The policies include dynamic responses to security threats such as distributed denial-of-service attacks (DDoS), and the ability to monitor capacity and distribute it manually or automatically in order to meet the bandwidth needs of individual branches or data centers.

Like other SD-WAN offerings, the Telia SD-WAN service allows customers to pick from lower cost public internet connections or dedicated IP tunnels for mission-critical business traffic. By using Nuage’s SD-WAN 2.0 platform, Telia Norway’s network is able to adapt immediately and provide flexibility as customers’ needs change.

“We are happy to announce the start of the new generation datacom services in the enterprise market,” said Telia Norway’s Jon Christian Hillestad, head of enterprise, in a statement. “This solution represents a whole new way of producing datacom services, that gives opportunities regarding services, operation and functionality for our customers. It will also utilize our 5G network that we are starting to roll out.”

Nokia-owned Nuage has had its SD-WAN service out in the field for several years now, but last fall it announced its SD-WAN 2.0 offering, which added several features and functionalities to its Virtualized Network Services (VNS) platform. Among the more than 50 SD-WAN in the market today, Nokia’s Nuage Networks SD-WAN platform has a strong position in data-center virtualization with its Virtualized Service Platform (VSP).

As part of their digital transformations, enterprises are moving more of their workloads and critical data to the cloud. Telia SD-WAN gives companies network services that fuel their digital transformations and cloud-based solutions while making sure the applications can be provisioned automatically and continuously.

Telia has a global common platform that’s deployed across three continents, which enables international customers to tap into its SD-WAN service.

Nuage Networks has designed its SD-WAN platform to be used by service providers that want to white label it in order to offer SD-WAN to their own end customers. Its SD-WAN 2.0 is in use by more than 70 managed services providers and over 700 enterprises across various verticals.

In addition to Telia Norway, Nuage Networks SD-WAN deployments to date include BT, Cogeco Peer1, Credit Andorra, Etisalat, Equal, Globe Telecom, NTT Com India and Telefonica. On the security front, Nuage works with well-known names in the industry, such as Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks and Check Point.

Earlier this month, MEF announced that Nuage Networks, Versa Networks and Infovista were the first vendors to pass its MEF’s SD-WAN certification process, which is administered by Spirent Communications. By garnering certification, the three SD-WAN vendors proved their services complied with MEF’s SD-WAN Service Attributes and Services (MEF 70) standard that was published last summer after two years of development.
