23 Feb Unitas says it can help enterprises secure edge access to any cloud
Unitas Global launched what it claims is the first software-defined network that provides automated edge access to any cloud location. Called Unitas Reach, the network is intended to help enterprises connect to cloud providers, edge access networks and carrier-neutral data centers.
According to Mary Stanhope, chief sales marketing officer at Unitas, the company saw a need for this type of service because many enterprises have difficulty culling together all the pieces necessary to get edge access to any cloud in any location. “Some companies might have 18 different service providers that they have to manage. This is a big operational challenge, particularly if you have to do it across many different countries with different contracts,” she said.
Unitas Reach says it can connect cloud providers, carrier-neutral data centers, SaaS applications and edge access networks. Stanhope said the company has interconnections with hundreds of networks and fiber providers including 900 carrier neutral data centers and 30 million enterprise locations. “This allows us to build services or work with partners like data centers or cloud providers to bundle our network and managed services with the infrastructure they are providing,” Stanhope said.

Besides providing connectivity, the company can also help steamline pricing and help enterprises scale quickly. “We don’t need another network, we need a better way to consume the existing networks that are out there,” Stanhope added.
Unitas can also help enterprises with multicloud delivery, direct connectivity to and between multicloud platforms, and provide managed Internet and wide-area networking solutions.
