Custom Corporate Training in Optical Networking and Fiber Optics
Give your engineering, operations, and technical teams the specialized optical networking knowledge they need to design, deploy, and manage today’s high-capacity fiber optic networks.
FiberGuide provides custom corporate optical networking training for companies that need more than a standard open-enrollment course. Private training can be delivered at your facility or another location convenient for your organization.
Training Designed Around Your Organization
Optical networking technology is evolving rapidly. Higher transmission speeds, coherent optics, DWDM, data center interconnects, 800G and emerging 1.6T systems are changing the skills required by engineering and network operations teams.
FiberGuide offers three established certification programs developed by Optical Technology Training (OTT): Certified Optical Network Associate (CONA), Certified Optical Network Engineer (CONE), and Certified Fiber Characterization Engineer (CFCE).

Who Can Benefit from Custom Training?
Custom corporate training is particularly useful when several employees need training at the same time or when an organization has specific technologies, network architectures, or deployment requirements that would benefit from additional discussion.
- Optical network engineers
- Network architects
- Network planners and designers
- Transmission engineers
- Data center engineers
- Fiber test engineers
- Network operations teams
- Project managers
- Telecommunications engineers
- Infrastructure engineers
- Technical managers
- Engineering support teams
Our Core Optical Networking Courses
Custom corporate training can be based on one of our established certification programs. Depending on your organization’s requirements, the training can focus on the technologies most relevant to your team.
CONA
Certified Optical Network Associate
A five-day introductory optical networking program covering fiber optics, optical components, CWDM, DWDM, optical amplifiers, power budgets, impairments, and transmission systems.
CONE
Certified Optical Network Engineer
A five-day advanced program covering coherent optics, high-speed transmission, modulation formats, DSP, optical impairments, flexible-grid DWDM, ROADMs, and high-capacity networks.
CFCE
Certified Fiber Characterization Engineer
A five-day program focused on fiber characterization, including OTDR, chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion, spectral attenuation, and related measurement techniques.
Can the Training Be Customized?
Training Adapted to Your Requirements
Our CONA, CONE, and CFCE programs have defined curricula and learning objectives. However, private corporate training provides greater
flexibility than our standard open-enrollment classes.
Whenever practical and by mutual agreement, we can work with your technical team before the course to identify areas where existing course content can be expanded, emphasized, or supplemented with additional modules that address your organization’s specific requirements.
For example, Passive Optical Networks (PON) are not part of the standard CONA or CONE curriculum. However, if your organization is deploying or engineering a PON-based network, we may be able to incorporate a PON module or related material into a private corporate training program.
Similarly, some technically complex topics—such as fiber nonlinear impairments and advanced modulation formats—are covered in CONA and CONE at a practical level, focusing on the concepts that optical networking engineers need to understand for network design, deployment, troubleshooting, and operation. For organizations that require a deeper technical understanding, we can expand these topics to include more detailed treatment of the underlying physics, performance limitations, system modeling, and engineering considerations as part of a customized corporate training program.
Other potential areas of customization could include additional emphasis on specific transmission technologies, network architectures, testing methods, data center interconnects, access networks, or technologies relevant to an upcoming deployment.
Private, On-Site Corporate Training
Custom corporate training is designed for organizations that want their employees to learn together in a private environment. Training can generally be conducted at your company location, a customer-selected training facility, or another suitable location.
Advantages of Private Training
- Train multiple employees together
- Focus on technologies relevant to your organization
- Discuss network requirements in a private setting
- Coordinate training with planned deployments
- Reduce employee travel requirements
- Encourage collaboration between engineering teams
Flexible Delivery
- Training at your facility
- Training at a designated training location
- North American locations
- International locations by arrangement
- Private sessions for your organization
- Customized emphasis within the agreed curriculum
